I get a screen similar to the one below:
It just stays like that and nothing happens! How do I connect to the IRC properly?
Some routers don't seem to like the ports IRC uses to connect. To get around this, the admins at SwiftIRC have setup 1 server to use a common port to connect with that should work.
In the IRC interface, click the "New server window" button and type this:
/server tadpole.fr.eu.SwiftIRC.net:8080
You can setup to connect to this server by default by looking at this article. Don't forget to change the Server hostname to tadpole.fr.eu.SwiftIRC.net and the Server port to 8080.

when i try to connect to any server including the link above it get this: (16:20:34) * Closing Link: SKUser306[82-46-52-137.cable.ubr12.newt.blueyonder.co.uk] (Server is delinking) (16:20:34) * Disconnected, type /reconnect to reconnect
i used the link above, but i still can't connect. it says connecting to tadpole.fr.eu.SwiftIRC.net (8080). next line says connected to tadpole.fr.eu.SwiftIRC.net, logging in. next line says disconnected, type /reconnect to reconnect. thats all i get and still can't get in.

i have tried all the ways i can find to access irc to no avail even tadpole wont let me in i get this: (10:27:43) * Connecting to tadpole.fr.eu.SwiftIRC.net (8080)... (10:27:44) Error connecting to tadpole.fr.eu.SwiftIRC.net: Unable to resolve host name. Make sure that you have typed the server address correctly. If the address is correct, this error may indicate a problem with your Internet connection. I am connected to the net so that is not the problem any help would be apprietiated thx beaurider
I tried this although the IRC always worked fine with my router, but nothing worked so that's why I tried it. And this doesn't work either, it just keeps saying can't resolve host name etc.
it still wonnt work. yall need to get someone working on your irc client
