What is xBNC and how can I use my account with SwiftKit?
xBNC is a free BNC (IRC Bouncer) provider on the SwiftIRC network.
This allows you to maintain your IRC session. If you quit your client, close your computer down or even reformat, everyone will still see you as online. You can also obtain a vanity hostname (or vHost) so you can maintain anonymity (and show off to your friends!)
Visit http://xBNC.net for information on how to get an account.
How to set your account up with SwiftKit
If you are accepted, you will get a message in the following format:
![]()
With this you are able to set up the BNC.
In the SwiftKit IRC client, click the 'Start' button followed by the 'Options' button. Make sure the 'Connection' tab is selected and click the 'Add' button.
Fill out the form as per the format below:
SERVER - this is the BNC server you were put on when you were accepted. This will be told in the connecting with mIRC part of the message. Using the example in the first picture, my server would be sheep.
PORT - this is the port you must connect to on the server. This is told to you immediately following the server, prefixed by a colin. Using the example in the first picture, my port would be 9000.
USER - the username/ident that you applied with. This is repeated in the overview just before you verify with the !send command.
PASS - the password you chose when applying.
Note that in the SERVER PASSWORD field, your username and password must be seperated by a colin as presented in the form. Let's say your Username was Bob and your password was swiftkit, the server password field would contain Bob:swiftkit.
Now click the 'Start' button in the IRC client and select xBNC from the dropdown list and connect.
